Being interested in the management of natural resources, Marit Kragt studied Environmental Science with a major in Environmental Management at the Wageningen University in the Netherlands. After briefly working at the Dutch Department of Foreign Affairs in The Hague and Beijing, she broadened her expertise by completing a Masters of Economics and a PhD in Environmental Economics at the Australian National University in Canberra. Since July 2010 she has been an Assistant Professor at the UWA School of Agricultural and Resource Economics. This is a joint position with the CSIRO Ecosystem Sciences' Sustainable Agriculture Flagship. Her research looks at integrated environmental management, using biophysical science and economics. She has a particular interest in integrating non-market values of environmental goods and services into decision making. Her key research interests focus on natural resource management (improving the effectiveness and efficiency of NRM), agri-environmental management, interdisciplinary research and integrated modelling of biophysical science and economics, and economic valuation of environmental changes.
