Course outline:

The aim of this short course is to provide those attending with detailed knowledge of how to design and implement PES schemes in developing countries. The course will draw heavily from the experience gained by the presenters while working on the Laos PDR PES scheme that is focused on protecting endangered wildlife from poaching. Sessions in the course will concentrate on the key information components that are requires for a successful PES design: Demand, costs of supply and biophysical impacts. Emphasis will be given to the practicalities of generating information as well as the implementation of the scheme in two case studies.
